Behavioral Health Specialist II - Mental Health Services
Overview
You will provide psychosocial, rehabilitation, and recovery-oriented services for adults with mental health challenges, advocating for their goals while living in the community. You will work under the supervision of a Team Leader or Program Director and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic case management. This role involves meeting clients at various sites, providing on-the-spot counseling, and supporting daily living skills. Medi-Cal advocacy and Representative Payee Services are key components. What You'll Do9
- 1Lead client advocacy and direction in the absence of the Program Director, ensuring their needs are met.
- 2Advocate for clients in treatment, assisting with applications for benefits such as Medi-Cal, housing, food, and clothing.
- 3Support individual service plans by coaching clients in social skills, money management, personal hygiene, and job readiness.
- 4Maintain client records and complete documentation, including progress notes and activity logs, according to program standards.
- 5Meet with clients at program sites, homes, job sites, or other community locations to deliver services.
- 6Develop financial management plans for clients receiving Representative Payee Services and authorize expenditures.
- 7Provide on-the-spot counseling that aligns with the program's recovery-oriented philosophy.
- 8Drive on program business using a personal vehicle for medication outreach, home visits, and transporting clients to appointments or court hearings.
- 9Attend to the safety and wellbeing of clients, promptly completing assigned paperwork.
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field, plus 4 years of direct mental health service experience, or equivalent qualifications.
- 20-2 years of mental health experience is acceptable with minimal qualifications, but preferred candidates have 4 years.
- 3Valid California driver's license, current vehicle insurance/registration, and reliable transportation passing safety inspection if older than 5 years.
- 4Experience with Medi-Cal eligibility, benefits advocacy, and Representative Payee services.
- 5Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with onsite presence in Sacramento, California.
- 6Strong documentation and data entry skills, with proficiency in progress notes and activity reporting.
- 7Comfortable in community settings, including homes, board and care facilities, and skilled nursing facilities.
- 8Bilingual Spanish speaking ability is encouraged but not required.
