Overview

You will own integrated behavioral health delivery across two Student Health Centers in Portland, Oregon, serving K-12 students with brief, evidence-based interventions. You join a Multnomah County team of 9 SHCs and 5 school districts, providing mental health assessment, diagnosis, and therapy within primary care. This permanent .8 FTE role includes school breaks off and full benefits. Your work directly improves student readiness to learn by embedding behavioral health expertise into routine care.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Provide evidence-based behavioral health services to patients at two Student Health Centers, including brief 10-20 minute interventions and Behavioral Change planning
  • 2Conduct mental health assessments, diagnoses, and DSM-based evaluations with risk and safety assessments for K-12 students
  • 3Deliver brief evidence-based psychotherapy across 1-6 visits per episode for primary care patients with mental health and addiction needs
  • 4Act as the behavioral health expert on clinical teams, offering consultation to Medical Providers and school partners
  • 5Build referral networks and coordinate care management for students requiring specialized support
  • 6Drive population health outcomes by ensuring every student has access to behavioral health expertise as part of standard care
  • 7Foster relationships with cross-departmental and school stakeholders to integrate services
  • 8Support crisis situations and implement motivational interventions for health-compromising behaviors

Requirements8

  • 1Master's degree in social work, psychology, or counseling
  • 22+ years of professional experience as a counselor, therapist, social worker, or mental health professional
  • 3Active Oregon LCSW, LPC, or Psychologist license
  • 4Bilingual in Spanish and English (language testing required)
  • 5Training at the post-master's level in primary care behavioral health (preferred)
  • 6Ability to respond effectively to crisis situations
  • 7Knowledge of local behavioral health treatment systems and community resources (preferred)
  • 8Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal communication skills
