Behavior Specialist, Mental Health & ABA
Overview
You will support clients with challenging behaviors at Empower Behavioral Health & Intervention in Columbus, Ohio, implementing clinician-developed behavior support plans with fidelity. You will collect daily data, document progress notes, and train new staff. Collaborating with a clinical team of mental health professionals and behavior analysts, you will help shape adaptive skills and safety. What You'll Do10
- 1Implement behavior support plans for clients with challenging behaviors, adjusting strategies in real time to build rapport and skills.
- 2Collect and document daily behavior data and progress notes in Central Reach, ensuring accurate and timely records.
- 3Train new staff on client-specific protocols, intervention techniques, and safety procedures.
- 4Maintain a safe and organized treatment environment, including preparation of materials and supervision of clients at all times.
- 5Collaborate with clinical supervisors and behavior analysts during case review meetings, presenting data and progress updates.
- 6Respond to behavioral episodes with rational detachment and professional composure, ensuring client and staff safety.
- 7Provide direct care including toileting, diaper changes, and physical support for elopement prevention.
- 8Adapt to new clients, recommendations, and environmental changes, demonstrating flexibility in scheduling and assignments.
- 9Complete all required training and maintain productivity of 1,200 hours per year.
- 10Use professional communication and maintain confidentiality in all client interactions.
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor's degree and/or 3+ years related experience required.
- 2Proven ability to implement behavior support plans and collect behavioral data accurately.
- 3Experience documenting progress notes and using data collection systems like Central Reach.
- 4Physical capacity to perform tasks like running after eloped clients, getting up/down from the ground, and changing diapers.
- 5Strong professional communication and composure during high-stress behavioral situations.
- 6Demonstrated ability to train and mentor new staff in clinical procedures.
- 7Flexibility to adapt to new clients and schedule changes as needed.
- 8Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and following ethical standards.
