Bartender, Mixology & Customer Service
Overview
You will own the bar at Encore Village of Schaumburg, crafting drinks and delivering hospitality at scale in a high-volume Chicago venue. You'll work alongside a close-knit team of servers and kitchen staff, with POS systems and mixology tools as your daily instruments. This part-time contract role flexes around evenings and weekends, offering hands-on experience in a premium senior living community.
What You'll Do8
- 1Greet guests and take beverage and food orders, tailoring recommendations to individual tastes and dietary needs.
- 2Mix, garnish, and serve drinks per recipe specs and customer requests, maintaining speed and accuracy during peak service.
- 3Keep the bar spotless and organized: polish glassware, stock ice, and sanitize surfaces to health code standards.
- 4Monitor guest behavior and enforce responsible alcohol service, refusing service when needed and following TIPS training.
- 5Restock bar inventory and track liquor levels, flagging low items to management before they run dry.
- 6Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations, from proper storage to waste disposal.
- 7Collaborate with servers and kitchen staff to time drink delivery with food courses, ensuring seamless guest experiences.
- 8Promote daily specials and signature cocktails, upselling without being pushy.
Requirements7
- 11+ years of bartending or food service experience, with a working knowledge of mixology techniques.
- 2Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures.
- 3Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to read guest cues and adapt service style.
- 4Ability to multitask under pressure, juggling multiple drink orders without compromising quality.
- 5Sharp attention to detail in drink presentation, bar cleanliness, and portion control.
- 6Must meet local legal age requirement for serving alcohol (21+ in Illinois).
- 7Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended shifts, and lift 25-50 lbs (kegs and cases).
