Overview
You will own daily care for 30+ horses on a 112-acre working farm. Blue Sun Farm combines a lesson program, a dressage facility, and a growing livestock operation. You will join a small team that values animal welfare and employee growth. Rounds include AM and PM feedings, stall cleaning, and pasture maintenance with field work available daily. This role offers year-round stability, a $17/hour starting rate, and a flexible schedule.
What You'll Do8
- 1Feed horses and administer medications per schedule, measuring rations with basic math.
- 2Clean stalls, paddocks, and common areas to maintain hygiene standards.
- 3Turn out horses and bring them in, changing blankets as weather requires.
- 4Fill and clean water troughs and buckets across all pastures and stalls.
- 5Operate small machinery such as gator, ATV, leaf blower, and manure spreader for farm tasks.
- 6Use hand tools for repairs and maintenance on fences, gates, and equipment.
- 7Monitor animal behavior and report health or safety concerns to management.
- 8Assist with hay field work and sheep care during seasonal cycles.
Requirements7
- 11+ years hands-on horse care experience, including feeding, turnout, and mucking.
- 2Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions.
- 3Basic math skills for measuring feed and medication dosages.
- 4Familiarity with small equipment operation such as ATV and leaf blower.
- 5Mechanical knowledge for performing equipment repairs.
- 6Willingness to learn about growing practices and animal husbandry.
- 7Available year-round, including some holiday shifts.
