Kennel Technician, Animal Care & Handling
Overview
You will own daily animal care, feeding, and exercise for up to 40 pets across breeds. You will keep kennels spotless, monitor health, and support training sessions. What You'll Do8
- 1Feed, groom, and exercise animals each shift, prioritizing individual needs.
- 2Clean kennels, play areas, and common spaces to prevent disease spread.
- 3Observe animals for illness or distress; report findings to veterinary staff promptly.
- 4Restrain animals during grooming or procedures to ensure safety for all.
- 5Answer owner questions and address concerns with clear, friendly communication.
- 6Reinforce training commands during sessions as instructed by lead trainers.
- 7Lift equipment and animals up to 50 pounds when moving or cleaning.
- 8Document feeding, health, and behavior observations in daily logs.
Requirements6
- 11+ years working in a kennel, shelter, or veterinary clinic (preferred).
- 2High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3Physical stamina for 10-40 hours weekly of standing, bending, and lifting.
- 4Comfort handling large breeds and basic knowledge of dog behavior.
- 5Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
- 6Valid driver's license for occasional off-site errands (if applicable).
Salary Insight
