The Animal Caretaker leads daily animal care and grounds maintenance at Andrus Therapeutic Farm. This role requires a dedicated individual to oversee animal health and enrichment while supporting facility upkeep. What You'll Do11
- 1Observe and document animal health and behavior during shifts
- 2Maintain electronic and hard copy records of health medications enrichment and visitor interactions
- 3Conduct visual assessments of animals and grounds to identify safety hazards
- 4Clean animal barns perform deep cleans organize food storage and manage inventory
- 5Participate in landscaping projects such as mowing grading planting and pruning
- 6Respond to weather emergencies by ensuring safe walkways through plowing and salting
- 7Engage with youth through farm activities and programs
- 8Assist with veterinary visits and maintain accurate medical records
- 9Present emergency updates regarding animal welfare and facility safety
- 10Perform routine and emergency maintenance to ensure compliance and safety
- 11Collaborate on enrichment activities and training programs for animals
Requirements5
- 1High School Diploma with two to three years of animal care experience a must farm animals preferred
- 2Proven experience in grounds keeping animal care and related services
- 3Familiarity with landscaping tools and equipment
- 4Valid NYS Driver's License in good standing
- 5Ability to access ADP app on mobile devices for agency program management
