Animal Attendant III Animal Resources Center
Overview
The Animal Resources Center seeks an Animal Attendant III to manage vertebrate animal care across multiple facilities. This role involves direct animal husbandry, documentation, and cross-campus support. Candidates will operate within UT RMS AOPs software and drive company vehicles.
What You'll Do11
- 1Provide animal husbandry and care to all ARC-managed species
- 2Observe animals for disease and report conditions to veterinary staff
- 3Complete documentation including per diem sheets and animal records
- 4Clean cages and sanitize animal rooms to prevent infection
- 5Coordinate equipment transport between facilities using UT-owned carts
- 6Track feed inventory and notify supervisors when restocking is needed
- 7Execute facility-level tasks in AOPs software
- 8Drive vehicles to transport equipment and animals between locations
- 9Participate in training and continue education activities
- 10Serve as backup for all Animal Attendant positions during emergencies
- 11Set up incoming animal deliveries and verify against order documentation
Requirements9
- 1High school diploma or GED with 3 years animal care experience
- 2Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly
- 3Valid Texas Driver’s License with Class C endorsement
- 4Physical abilities test completion
- 5Relevant education may substitute for experience
- 6Preferred primate handling certification
- 7Previous research vivarium experience
- 8Relevant degree in related field
- 9Weekend and holiday availability required
