Overview
Solano Baking Company seeks a Bakery Deli Associate to own the deli counter: taking orders, crafting breakfast and lunch sandwiches, and prepping ingredients at a high-volume neighborhood bakery. You will join a family-run team that has baked since 1981, where every role supports fresh bread, pastries, and espresso drinks. Expect early mornings (5 a.m. start) with no late nights. This role blends customer service with food safety and sanitation protocol, offering both part-time and full-time schedules and $22.50 average hourly with tips.
What You'll Do10
- 1Take customer orders and build sandwiches and espresso drinks to spec during morning rush
- 2Prepare deli items: slicing meats and cheeses, portioning ingredients, and stocking cold line
- 3Execute sanitation protocol for all cutting boards, utensils, and prep surfaces after each shift
- 4Operate the register and handle cash and card transactions accurately
- 5Answer phone calls and take phone orders with clear communication and a positive tone
- 6Lead the deli station during peak hours, directing flow and supporting teammates
- 7Restock bakery display cases with fresh pastries and breads throughout the day
- 8Assist in front-of-house tasks: greeting customers, wiping tables, and maintaining a clean café
- 9Follow opening and closing checklists for equipment and ingredient rotation
- 10Train new hires on sandwich assembly and espresso machine operation
Requirements9
- 11+ year experience in food service or customer-facing role
- 2Food handler's card or ability to obtain within 30 days
- 3Availability to work 5 a.m. - 3 p.m. shifts, including weekends and holidays
- 4Ability to stand for 8+ hours and lift 25 lbs regularly
- 5Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced café with multiple orders
- 6Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills
- 7Positive attitude and team-first mindset, with willingness to lead when needed
- 8Basic math skills for cashier and order accuracy
- 9Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
