Overview

As an Automotive Technician at Global Pre-Owned Inc, you will diagnose and repair vehicles for our dealership service center, using ASE certification and dealer software. You will own the full repair cycle: from diagnostic code analysis to final quality checks, handling 10-15 vehicles per week. You will work with a team of 8 technicians and report to the Service Manager, with access to Snap-on diagnostic tools and dealer-specific OEM software. This role differs from others because you will also help shape our service center procedures, directly impacting customer satisfaction and repeat business.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Diagnose vehicle malfunctions using OBD-II scanners and dealer software, documenting all fault codes and recommended repairs.
  • 2Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements, following manufacturer standards.
  • 3Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections of engine, transmission, and brake systems, flagging any safety issues.
  • 4Communicate repair recommendations to customers in clear, non-technical language, ensuring they understand the scope and cost.
  • 5Track repair progress in the dealership's DMS system, updating status and maintaining accurate service records.
  • 6Assist in developing service center procedures for repair documentation, quality checks, and workflow efficiency.
  • 7Maintain a clean, safe work area, complying with OSHA standards and proper disposal of hazardous materials.
  • 8Stay current on OEM technical bulletins and complete training to improve diagnostic accuracy.

Requirements8

  • 1High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2ASE certification (Automotive Service Excellence) preferred.
  • 3SAE certification (Society of Automotive Engineers) preferred.
  • 42+ years experience as an automotive technician in a dealership or repair shop.
  • 5Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as OBD-II scanners and Dealer Management Systems.
  • 6Strong customer service skills with the ability to explain repairs to non-technical customers.
  • 7Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
  • 8In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, and electrical diagnostics.
