What You'll Do8
- 1Inspect and diagnose engine, brake, suspension, and electrical issues across a wide range of makes and models.
- 2Perform multi-point inspections and document findings in CarMax's digital system, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- 3Repair or replace failing components, including belts, hoses, brakes, and alternators, using OEM parts.
- 4Complete reconditioning tasks such as replacing trim, seals, and panels to restore vehicles to showroom quality.
- 5Support alignment and suspension diagnostics, using Hunter alignment machines and Bosch diagnostic tools.
- 6Collaborate with the production team to meet daily throughput targets and uphold CarMax's quality standards.
- 7Follow EH&S protocols daily, keeping your work area clean and hazard-free.
- 8Build independent diagnostic skills by troubleshooting complex issues under senior technician guidance.
Requirements8
- 11-3 years of hands-on automotive repair experience, including brake, suspension, and electrical work.
- 2ASE certifications in Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Heating and AC (A7), Electrical (A6), or Engine Repair (A1) preferred where required by state law.
- 3Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and proper use of lifts, jacks, and power tools.
- 4Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and stand for extended shifts in a fast-paced service bay.
- 5Valid driver's license and clean driving record to test-drive vehicles after repairs.
- 6Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to read wiring diagrams and service manuals.
- 7Multitasking capability to service 5-10 vehicles per day without sacrificing quality.
- 8Clear communication skills for documenting work orders and coordinating with parts and service advisors.
