Auto Body Prepper, Automotive Painting & Prep Roles at Carvana

Own vehicle prep tasks at scale within our high tech reconditioning centers. You will sand, mask, tape, bag, tear down and buff vehicles to ready them for paint. Work alongside a collaborative team and state of the art tools. This role offers onboarding, ongoing training, and a path to more senior paint roles.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build prep work for cosmetic paint using Sand Masking and Buffing to meet quality standards
- 2Design and execute vehicle preparation steps confirming surfaces are ready for paint within 90 days
- 3Lead by example in safety and efficiency in a fast moving environment
- 4Ship finished prep work to paint bays, ensuring correct masking and taping per vehicle specs
- 5Own routine maintenance and organization of tools and equipment in the prep area
- 6Scale operations by coordinating with paint teams to minimize rework and downtime
- 7Debug any prep defects with the team to maintain first pass yield
- 8Drive adherence to Carvana policies and quality guidelines during shift
- 9Improve turnaround times while maintaining consistent quality across 18 locations
Requirements6
- 1Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license
- 2Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
- 3Able to work in a fast paced environment with exposure to weather conditions
- 4Some positions require Motor Vehicle Records check
- 5Comfort with mandatory overtime based on business needs
- 6Experience with automotive prep or painting is preferred but not required for all roles
