Overview

You will own instruction and behavior support for K-12 students in AIU-operated special education schools, driving progress on IEP goals and PA Academic Standards. You will collaborate with a team of teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to deliver individualized learning. This role demands expertise in evidence-based practices and data-driven planning. You will shape the classroom climate and student outcomes in a supportive, mission-driven environment.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Develop lesson plans and units that align with PA Academic Standards, adapting instruction for diverse learners.
  • 2Teach whole groups, small groups, and individual sessions using modifications that target IEP goals.
  • 3Monitor student progress through diagnostic, formative, benchmark, and summative assessments, using data to adjust instruction.
  • 4Implement behavior management programs using evidence-based practices to reduce barriers to learning.
  • 5Maintain accurate records on attendance, behavior, and academic performance using IEP Writer and Skyward.
  • 6Communicate with parents and district personnel through report cards, conferences, newsletters, and progress reports.
  • 7Write IEP and Reevaluation Reports that meet federal and state regulations, and lead IEP team meetings.
  • 8Direct and collaborate with classroom staff including paraprofessionals and Personal Care Assistants.
  • 9Coordinate with related service providers using a consultative model to share student insights.
  • 10Showcase student work through bulletin boards and digital displays to enhance school climate.

Requirements8

  • 1PA certification in Special Education PK-12 required.
  • 2Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and student information systems like IEP Writer and Skyward.
  • 3Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151, and NSOR clearances dated within one year of hire.
  • 4School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) completed prior to hire.
  • 5Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 35 pounds.
  • 6Ability to kneel, crouch, bend, and reach for teaching materials.
  • 7Clear speech for communicating with limited English speaking customers.
  • 8Adequate vision and hearing to perform duties.
