Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) Experts | $84/hr Remote
Overview
This remote contract role places you at the intersection of semiconductor science and frontier AI development. You'll work with a leading AI research lab to generate and evaluate the high-quality scientific data that teaches models about atomic layer deposition, thin-film processes, and materials behavior. Expect to apply your hands-on expertise in ALD and characterization techniques to shape how AI reasons about complex deposition chemistry and semiconductor manufacturing. What sets this apart is the direct impact your domain knowledge has on cutting-edge models for the physical sciences — plus a premium hourly rate.
What You'll Do6
- 1Leverage your expertise in ALD process development, precursor chemistry, and thin-film characterization to create and refine training and evaluation datasets.
- 2Assess AI-generated scientific reasoning, spot technical errors, and provide corrections to improve model accuracy.
- 3Design and solve advanced, expert-level problems related to ALD and semiconductor processing.
- 4Score and rank model outputs against defined scientific criteria, documenting your reasoning in clear written form.
- 5Organize technical knowledge — process parameters, recipes, and characterization results — into structured, model-ready data.
- 6Deliver consistent, high-quality output within agreed-upon timeframes.
Requirements6
- 1Hands-on experience developing, optimizing, or troubleshooting ALD processes.
- 2Deep understanding of thin-film deposition for semiconductor or advanced packaging applications.
- 3Strong grasp of precursor chemistry and surface reaction mechanisms.
- 4Experience with materials characterization techniques such as XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, or ellipsometry.
- 5Advanced degree (PhD or MS) or equivalent practical experience in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or physics.
- 6Excellent written English and the ability to explain technical reasoning with precision.
Who Should Apply
You're an ALD and thin-film specialist who enjoys tackling hard technical problems and has a knack for clear, logical explanation. You're comfortable translating your hands-on semiconductor knowledge into structured data and evaluating the quality of AI-generated scientific content. You thrive in a flexible remote environment and can commit to a steady weekly workload while maintaining exacting standards.
