Associate General Counsel, Trade Association & Nonprofits
Overview
As Associate General Counsel, you own the legal affairs for AHRI and its affiliated nonprofit organizations, supporting 300+ global HVAC manufacturers. You work daily with the General Counsel, advising on antitrust compliance, international regulations, and corporate governance. You prepare and review contracts, manage trademark filings, and guide committees through legal requirements. What You'll Do10
- 1Advise on compliance with Antitrust Laws, Employment, Data Governance, FCPA, and GDPR across international activities.
- 2Draft and review agreements, including contracts, licensing, nondisclosure agreements, and trademark filings.
- 3Attend committee and working group meetings to ensure antitrust compliance.
- 4Review meeting agendas and minutes for alignment with AHRI policies and antitrust laws.
- 5Prepare and file federal and state lobbying documents for legal compliance.
- 6Manage legal aspects of corporate governance for each affiliated entity.
- 7Support and train staff on legal requirements and compliance standards.
- 8Coordinate with external counsel on specialized legal matters.
- 9Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting the HVAC industry.
- 10Advise on employment law and HR matters across the organization.
Requirements9
- 13+ years as a practicing attorney in the United States.
- 2Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school.
- 3Active bar membership in a U.S. state, with eligibility for Virginia Bar admission within 180 days.
- 4Familiarity with Energy Policy Conservation Act, Clean Air Act, and American Innovation Manufacturing Act preferred.
- 5Experience in association or nonprofit law preferred.
- 6Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- 7Strong knowledge of antitrust and data privacy regulations.
- 8Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
- 9Ability to work onsite in Arlington, Virginia daily.
