Overview

As the Associate Director at The Road Home's MVP shelter in Salt Lake City, you will own the 24/7 operations of a resource center serving single adults, directly supervising three Shift Supervisors and their Housing Advocate teams. You will ensure safe, welcoming, and effective services grounded in Trauma-Informed Care and Housing First principles. Collaborating with the Resource Center Director and HR, you will shape a culture of dignity, safety, and accountability. What You'll Do10

  • 1Oversee daily shelter operations, including guest check-ins, bed management, mail access, property storage, and security screening.
  • 2Implement Housing Focused and Trauma-Informed Care principles across all service delivery.
  • 3Lead crisis response, providing real-time decisions and ensuring timely incident reports.
  • 4Supervise and coach three Shift Supervisors, fostering staff growth and accountability.
  • 5Coordinate with internal teams and community partners to strengthen pathways to housing.
  • 6Monitor and integrate policy changes and best practices into shelter operations.
  • 7Lead daily shift changes and participate in emergency drills.
  • 8Support DEI initiatives and equitable practices in shelter policies.
  • 9Complete administrative tasks including reporting, data collection, and timecards.
  • 10Advocate for staff needs while balancing operational priorities.

Requirements10

  • 11+ years supervising or leading teams (3+ preferred).
  • 21+ years working with individuals experiencing homelessness or low-income populations.
  • 3Experience with administrative tasks, project coordination, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 4Knowledge of homeless services or shelter operations preferred.
  • 5Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations and make emotionally intelligent decisions.
  • 6Strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • 7Proficiency with management information systems.
  • 8Valid driver's license and ability to drive, as needed.
  • 9Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand, sit, or move for an hour or more.
  • 10Must be at least 21 years old.
