What You'll Do10
- 1Direct daily operations to keep the home safe, organized, appropriately staffed, and survey-ready under Texas assisted living requirements.
- 2Turn policies into clear schedules, assignments, and measurable standards; conduct regular walk-throughs and close gaps.
- 3Maintain effective management coverage across shifts and designate a qualified employee in writing during Manager absence.
- 4Provide calm leadership during call-outs, resident incidents, inspections, severe weather, and utility failures.
- 5Ensure residents receive respectful, individualized care consistent with assessments, service plans, and preferences.
- 6Monitor personal care, medication practices, meals, activities, housekeeping, and laundry; keep care plans accurate.
- 7Resolve resident and family concerns promptly with documented follow-through, coordinating with providers as needed.
- 8Recruit, onboard, schedule, and supervise staff; enforce standards and address underperformance consistently.
- 9Maintain compliance with HHSC requirements, 26 TAC Chapter 553, resident rights, and life-safety standards.
- 10Grow occupancy through prompt inquiry follow-up, persuasive tours, and community outreach; coordinate safe admissions.
Requirements9
- 1Prior experience as an Assisted Living Manager, Group Home Manager, or comparable leadership role required.
- 23+ years in assisted living, residential care, or senior-care operations with substantial staff leadership responsibility.
- 3Demonstrated competence in setting standards, scheduling, performance management, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
- 4Working knowledge of Texas assisted living regulations, survey readiness, resident rights, care planning, and incident reporting.
- 5Strong marketing, networking, tour, and ethical sales skills with evidence of supporting admissions or occupancy growth.
- 6High school diploma or equivalency; ability to complete Texas assisted living manager training within applicable timeframes.
- 7Excellent communication, organization, judgment, coaching, and computer skills with a compassionate resident-centered approach.
- 8Preferred: management experience in a Texas Type B facility or comparable small residential-care home.
- 9Preferred: experience with eMAR or care-documentation systems and supporting residents with dementia or hospice needs.
