Assistant Teacher, Education & Community Engagement (Contract)
Overview
The Assistant Teacher will support lead instructors in delivering a Core Knowledge curriculum at a local campus. They function as a second teacher in the classroom, assisting with instruction, student support, and classroom operations under supervision. This role emphasizes professional growth within a classical education environment and participation in school community events.
What You'll Do10
- 1Support lead teachers by implementing the Core Knowledge curriculum in assigned classrooms
- 2Assist students with makeup work after absences and provide help for challenging content
- 3Attend open houses and school events and participate in All Faculty Meetings as needed
- 4Assist with substitutes for absent teachers and monitor duty assignments
- 5Contribute to a neat, orderly classroom and uphold school policies and crisis procedures
- 6Support school dress and behavior codes and promote orderly student conduct
- 7Keep accurate records and reporting as required by the classroom teacher and Headmaster
- 8Participate in faculty development on half-days and pursue professional growth
- 9Assist in upkeep of buildings and grounds and ensure safety during campus activities
- 10Promote the school mission to the wider community and engage in professional development opportunities
Requirements7
- 1Bachelor`s degree preferred or some college coursework/Associate`s degree required
- 2Arizona and Louisiana US work authorization required; OPT/CPT candidates considered
- 3Criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance required
- 4Ability to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities
- 5Commitment to professional growth and knowledge of Western Civilization ideas
- 6Ability to support multiple classrooms and coordinate with lead teachers
- 7Strong adherence to school policies, safety procedures, and crisis plans
