Assistant Teacher, Charter School
Overview
You will support classroom instruction and student success across BASIS charter schools in the Phoenix metro area, gaining hands-on experience with the BASIS academic model. As an Assistant Teacher, you will teach part-time, substitute for full-time teachers, and provide academic support to students. You will collaborate with lead teachers and deans, manage study groups, and supervise non-instructional time. This role prepares you for full-time teaching by embedding you in the school's rigorous, achievement-oriented culture from day one.
What You'll Do9
- 1Teach part-time courses and substitute for full-time teachers, using the BASIS curriculum and methodology.
- 2Assist lead teachers with classroom management and instructional delivery, maintaining a focus on student achievement.
- 3Provide targeted academic support and tutoring to students, reinforcing concepts taught in class.
- 4Collaborate with teachers to evaluate student progress, needs, and gains, and adjust support strategies.
- 5Proctor assessments and exams, ensuring a secure and fair testing environment.
- 6Monitor and manage student non-scheduled time, including Early Bird, Late Bird, and lunch supervision.
- 7Lead and supervise study groups, fostering academic focus and collaboration.
- 8Support deans and directors with behavior management and disciplinary follow-up as needed.
- 9Assist in executing key school programs and events, contributing to a positive school culture.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- 2Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (or willingness to obtain one).
- 3Ability to work full-time on campus.
- 4Willingness to take and pass the NES Elementary Education Assessment if required.
- 5Willingness to be assigned to any campus in the West Phoenix Metro Area.
- 6Commitment to upholding BASIS' instructional standards and learning the BASIS educational model.
- 7Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- 8Effective judgment and decision-making in dynamic school environments.
- 9Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
