Assistant Store Manager, Retail Operations & Team Leadership
Overview
You will own daily store operations and team performance at a high-volume Family Dollar location in Indianapolis. You will drive customer satisfaction, manage inventory flow, and maintain merchandising standards across the sales floor. You will develop and coach store associates while partnering with the Store Manager on scheduling, payroll, and loss prevention. This role demands hands-on leadership in a fast-paced retail environment with direct impact on sales and store profitability.
What You'll Do9
- 1Direct day-to-day store activities including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and safety compliance
- 2Coach and train store associates on customer service, product knowledge, and company policies to build a high-performing team
- 3Oversee merchandise flow from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor, ensuring seasonal displays are set and maintained
- 4Drive promotional execution by positioning fixtures and displays to maximize sales and visual appeal
- 5Process corporate directives such as Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, and Key Survey requests to meet operational standards
- 6Maintain inventory accuracy through ordering, damage processing, and record keeping for payroll, scheduling, and deposits
- 7Protect company assets by monitoring shrinkage, securing cash, and enforcing loss prevention procedures
- 8Sustain a clean, organized store environment including restrooms, floors, and stockroom to company standards
- 9Resolve customer concerns promptly with a positive, approachable attitude to build loyalty and repeat business
Requirements7
- 11+ year of retail, grocery, or drug store management experience
- 2High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and interpret operational directives such as merchandise schematics
- 3Proven ability to lift 55 lbs from floor to above shoulder height and handle frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and pushing
- 4Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills for team collaboration and customer interaction
- 5Exceptional customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a high-energy environment
- 6Decision-making ability to handle store emergencies and operational issues independently
- 7Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
