Assistant Store Manager at Family Dollar - Chicago IL
Overview
You will own store operations, customer service, and team development at a busy Family Dollar location in Chicago. You will manage daily tasks from merchandising to payroll, while coaching associates to meet company standards. What You'll Do9
- 1Run day-to-day store activities, including opening and closing procedures, and keep the sales floor stocked and organized.
- 2Support customers with a positive, approachable attitude, and resolve their questions or concerns on the spot.
- 3Transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor, and maintain seasonal displays.
- 4Process corporate directives like Pull and Hold/Destroy and Task Compliance to keep store operations aligned.
- 5Order merchandise, handle damaged items, and manage records for payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits.
- 6Protect company assets by enforcing loss prevention measures and securing store cash.
- 7Train and develop Store Associates, and ensure they follow all policies and safety guidelines.
- 8Maintain store cleanliness: clean restrooms, sweep and mop floors, empty trash, and keep all areas neat.
- 9Drive promotional effectiveness by keeping store-front fixtures and displays fresh and appealing.
Requirements8
- 11+ year store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment.
- 2High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 3Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives like merchandise schematics.
- 41+ year experience with cash handling, payroll, and scheduling.
- 5Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team leadership.
- 6Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced setting.
- 7Physical ability to lift 55 lbs from floor to shoulder height and stand, stoop, kneel, and climb regularly.
- 8Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
