Assistant Store Manager, Retail Operations at Family Dollar
Overview
You will own daily store operations at a high-volume Family Dollar location, driving sales, managing inventory, and leading a team of associates. You'll partner with the Store Manager to execute corporate directives and maintain merchandising standards across the sales floor and stockroom. This role offers direct impact on store performance and customer experience in a fast-paced retail setting.
What You'll Do11
- 1Open and close the store, managing cash deposits and receipts per policy.
- 2Supervise and train store associates to ensure high levels of customer service and task completion.
- 3Process corporate directives including Pull and Hold, Task Compliance, and Key Survey requests.
- 4Maintain seasonal and promotional displays to maximize sales and visual appeal.
- 5Oversee merchandise flow from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor, ensuring proper organization.
- 6Enforce safety and loss prevention protocols to protect company assets.
- 7Handle customer questions and concerns with a positive, approachable attitude.
- 8Coordinate ordering, damaged merchandise processing, and record keeping for payroll and scheduling.
- 9Keep the store clean, including restocking bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.
- 10Drive team development by coaching and providing feedback to associates.
- 11Complete additional duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
Requirements8
- 1High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and interpret operational directives.
- 21+ years of store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
- 3Ability to lift 55 lbs. repeatedly and meet physical demands including standing, stooping, and climbing.
- 4Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
- 5Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- 6Exceptional customer service and organizational skills.
- 7Ability to work in a high-energy, team-oriented environment.
- 8Willingness to obtain required licenses for alcohol and tobacco sales.
