Overview
As Assistant Principal of Culture & Climate, you will own the schoolwide systems for student behavior, discipline, attendance, and social-emotional development for a 9-12 campus serving 2,500+ students. You will lead restorative practices and culturally responsive behavior systems, partnering with the Principal and leadership team to weave the Greek language immersion program into daily culture. This role thrives on relational leadership, data-driven decisions, and building trust with families and staff. You'll shape a school where every student feels known, valued, and held to high expectations.
What You'll Do9
- 1Analyze schoolwide culture, behavior, and attendance data to identify trends and design proactive interventions using restorative practices.
- 2Lead implementation of restorative circles and trauma-informed practices across classrooms, reducing suspensions and referrals.
- 3Coach teachers on culturally responsive teaching and positive behavior supports, providing timely, actionable feedback within 90 days.
- 4Coordinate family communication and engagement around student conduct, hosting regular culture events that celebrate Greek heritage.
- 5Drive professional development for staff on SEL, grading for equity, and coaching for equity aligned with schoolwide norms.
- 6Partner with instructional leaders to link culture metrics to academic outcomes, adjusting strategies based on evidence.
- 7Model the school's mission and Greek language philosophy, championing cultural events and service-learning initiatives.
- 8Represent the school at community and family events, fostering strong stakeholder relationships and trust.
- 9Monitor the impact of behavior systems monthly, presenting progress to the Principal and adjusting practices for fidelity.
Requirements10
- 1Master's degree in education and active DE License plus Leadership Certification (or commitment to obtain).
- 23-5 years experience as an Instructional Coach, Dean, or Student Advisor in a K-12 setting, ideally in immersion or foreign language programs.
- 3Proven ability to analyze data using Excel and Google Docs, and willingness to learn new systems.
- 4Exceptional interpersonal communication, with conflict resolution skills using restorative practice techniques.
- 5Knowledge of formative and diagnostic assessments and research-based instructional practices.
- 6Equity-driven mindset with demonstrated sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups.
- 7Superior grasp of behavioral strategies for urban youth, including trauma-informed practices and SEL.
- 8Strong written and verbal communication to interact effectively with students, staff, and stakeholders.
- 9Ability to hold others accountable and motivate teams to achieve district goals.
