Overview

Lead the HVAC/R Shop at VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System, directing all maintenance and repair for the healthcare facility's air conditioning plant. What You'll Do8

  • 1Lead the HVAC/R Shop, assigning work and passing supervisor instructions to team members.
  • 2Diagnose and repair multi-zone AC systems, cooling towers, and water pumps.
  • 3Troubleshoot complete air conditioning systems, including Building Automation System (BAS) and control circuits.
  • 4Perform major overhauls, installations, and modifications on AC and heating units.
  • 5Repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic valves, drinking water coolers, and ventilation units.
  • 6Maintain stock levels of parts and supplies for the AC Refrigeration and Heating Unit.
  • 7Schedule and inspect work in progress to meet deadlines and supervisor instructions.
  • 8Keep orderly and accurate maintenance records, using work-order software like Maximo.

Requirements10

  • 1EPA Universal CFC Certification (Types I, II, and III) as required by the Clean Air Act.
  • 25+ years experience as a Journeyman Air Conditioning Mechanic, with leading experience preferred.
  • 3Proven skill in diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems, including cooling towers, chillers, and pneumatic controls.
  • 4Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • 5Familiarity with work-order software such as Maximo or similar CMMS.
  • 6Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for tracking maintenance records.
  • 7Experience in a healthcare facility environment is a plus.
  • 8Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass a background investigation.
  • 9Ability to lift objects over 50 lbs and work in confined or high spaces.
  • 10Must maintain annual influenza vaccination or obtain an exemption.
