Overview

You will be the first point of contact for prospective adopters at Dallas Animal Services, guiding them through the adoption process to match pets with forever homes. You will handle inquiries in person, by phone, and via email, processing applications and maintaining adoption records in computer databases. This role operates in a welcoming adoption area on a schedule that includes weekends and evenings. You will collaborate with the adoption team to achieve placement goals and support community outreach events. What You'll Do10

  • 1Greet prospective adopters in person, over the phone, and via email, and assist them with the adoption process.
  • 2Guide customers through the adoption journey, from initial inquiry to finalizing the adoption.
  • 3Match animals with adopters based on lifestyle, compatibility, and household needs.
  • 4Explain adoption procedures, pet care information, and organization policies to adopters.
  • 5Process adoption applications and complete all required documentation accurately.
  • 6Enter and maintain adoption records using computer databases and software.
  • 7Answer customer questions and provide outstanding customer service throughout the adoption experience.
  • 8Collaborate with the adoption team to achieve placement goals.
  • 9Assist with adoption events and community outreach activities.
  • 10Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming adoption area.

Requirements10

  • 11+ years of customer service, retail, administrative support, sales, or animal care experience (preferred).
  • 2Strong computer skills, including email and data entry systems.
  • 3Excellent interpersonal communication skills for interacting with the public and coworkers.
  • 4High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 5Ability to multitask in a high-volume adoption environment.
  • 6Comfortable handling dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments.
  • 7Ability to work weekends, holidays, or evenings as scheduled.
  • 8Passion for animal welfare and helping pets find loving homes.
  • 9Must be reliable, dependable, and able to work as part of a team.
  • 10Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
