What You'll Do8

  • 1Lead 2-3 daily group activities like bingo, arts and crafts, and musical performances for residents with varying cognitive abilities.
  • 2Design individualized engagement plans for residents with limited mobility or memory care needs using LifeBio or similar person-centered tools.
  • 3Document participation and progress in the PointClickCare EHR system within 24 hours of each session.
  • 4Coordinate volunteer visits and pet therapy sessions, ensuring compliance with infection control guidelines.
  • 5Train new aides on activity protocols and safety procedures during their first week on the floor.
  • 6Track inventory of art supplies, games, and multimedia equipment; reorder monthly to prevent shortages.
  • 7Support holiday and birthday celebrations, including decorating common areas and coordinating family invitations.
  • 8Evaluate resident satisfaction through informal feedback and adjust programming based on observed preferences.

Requirements7

  • 11+ years experience in activities programming or a related healthcare setting, or a certificate in therapeutic recreation.
  • 2Proficiency with Microsoft Office for creating calendars, newsletters, and tracking attendance.
  • 3Experience documenting resident participation in EHR systems such as PointClickCare or PCC.
  • 4Ability to lift 25+ pounds and assist residents with physical transfers during activities.
  • 5High school diploma or GED; CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • 6Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as activity schedules require.
  • 7Basic understanding of dementia care and person-centered engagement techniques.
