Accounting Clerk, Accounts Receivable & Collections
Overview
This Accounting Clerk owns daily accounts receivable, collections, and reconciliation for a Dallas-based logistics firm, supporting $38K-$42K in annual pay. You will manage vendor set-up, invoice audits, and cash posting across a multi-entity environment. Working on-site, you will collaborate with operations and finance teams to resolve payment discrepancies. The role offers 401(k) matching, health insurance, and paid time off. You will apply Excel skills and learn McLeod TMS to streamline workflows and meet 24-48 hour turnaround targets.
What You'll Do10
- 1Send customer statements and respond to AR, credit, and factoring inquiries within 24-48 hours.
- 2Make outbound collection calls on aging balances and document follow-up in Excel.
- 3Research remittance discrepancies, including unapplied cash, chargebacks, and short pays.
- 4Download and post cash receipts to customer accounts while maintaining supporting files.
- 5Reconcile unapplied cash and correct differences to keep balances accurate.
- 6Complete new vendor credit applications within 24-48 hours using Microsoft Word.
- 7Set up suppliers in McLeod TMS and keep their data current.
- 8Reconcile supplier invoices against orders, verifying rates and costs for chassis items.
- 9Flag billing errors and coordinate with vendors to fix them before payment.
- 10Run weekly aging reports and prioritize follow-up on high-risk balances.
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's in Accounting preferred.
- 21-2 years in an accounting environment, including AR, cash application, or collections.
- 3Intermediate Excel skills, including multi-tab spreadsheets and large data sets.
- 4Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Word; general Office literacy.
- 510-key typing and high data-entry accuracy.
- 6Willingness to learn McLeod TMS; experience is a plus.
- 7Strong communication for customer and vendor correspondence.
- 8High attention to detail in reconciliation-heavy work.
- 9Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy.
- 10Comfort making professional outbound calls and following up persistently.
