Accounting Assistant - II
Overview
Detail-oriented Accounting Assistant II joins our finance team in San Diego. This role develops accounting and financial management skills within a professional setting. Candidates need strong basic accounting knowledge, proficiency with financial software, and accurate data entry abilities. The position supports accounts payable receivable and financial reporting while ensuring compliance. Excel expertise is a plus. What You'll Do11
- 1Assist with data entry related to accounts payable and accounts receivable and inter-departmental accounting functions
- 2Support the Accounting Manager with month-end and year-end tasks
- 3Contribute to budget analysis account analysis and financial data reporting for internal review
- 4Help ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards where applicable
- 5Prepare financial statements and reports for internal or external stakeholders
- 6Process check requests
- 7Monitor Accounting Department email inboxes
- 8Answer department phone line calls and follow through on requests
- 9Handle general office duties such as answering phones ordering supplies liaising with building management and vendors managing office calendar
- 10Update accounting reports in QuickBooks
- 11Assist with reimbursement requests
Requirements8
- 1Basic understanding of accounting concepts such as debits & credits journal entries account reconciliation and general ledger management
- 2Experience with accounting software like QuickBooks Sage Xero Workday ADP Ceridian UltiPro or similar platforms
- 3Knowledge of accounting principles and corporate or governmental accounting standards
- 4Strong data entry skills including proficiency in 10-key typing Excel and attention to detail
- 5Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately
- 6Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- 7Prior experience in public accounting or non-profit accounting is advantageous
- 8Strong communication skills and collaborative teamwork ability
