Youth Wellness Coach, School-Based Behavioral Health
Overview
Provide direct behavioral health services to high school students across Massachusetts, implementing SBIRT (screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment) and prevention programs. You will work on-site at partner schools in East Bridgewater and Douglas, collaborating with school staff and community organizations. You will receive extensive training in motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and peer support, with a focus on supporting youth mental health and substance use. This role is part of a five-year research study with Massachusetts General Hospital, offering a chance to impact youth well-being.
What You'll Do7
- 1Deliver SBIRT services to students, including screenings and brief interventions for mental health and substance use.
- 2Build relationships with school staff and community partners to coordinate wellness activities.
- 3Support school health and wellness programming by co-facilitating groups and events.
- 4Develop and execute a community engagement project addressing youth health and well-being.
- 5Liaise with parents, guardians, and caregivers to support student progress.
- 6Participate in training and professional development on peer support, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care.
- 7Document services and outcomes for the research study with Massachusetts General Hospital.
Requirements10
- 11+ years of lived experience, professional mentorship, or frontline youth engagement.
- 2Willingness to share life experiences to mentor and support adolescents.
- 3Familiarity with issues affecting youth mental health and substance use.
- 4Detail-oriented with ability to work in a dynamic school environment.
- 5Strong verbal and written communication skills for training and presentations.
- 6Proficiency with Zoom, Outlook, PowerPoint, or similar software.
- 7Must be 18 years or older.
- 8Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- 9Pass an extensive background check.
- 10Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
