Overview

You own wound care for a 120-bed skilled nursing and rehab center in Apopka, FL. You perform weekly pressure ulcer assessments, adjust treatment plans for non-healing wounds, and drive prevention protocols for immobile residents. You work alongside the Rehab Director and Director of Nursing to maintain the highest functional level for every resident. This role combines clinical expertise with leadership, as you supervise restorative care staff and set the standard for skin integrity. Your decisions directly reduce hospital readmissions and improve quality of life for aging adults.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Assess all pressure ulcers weekly and document healing progress in each resident's EHR.
  • 2Implement treatment changes when wounds show no improvement, per WOCN guidelines.
  • 3Design prevention protocols for immobile residents using support surfaces and repositioning schedules.
  • 4Train nursing aides on skin assessment and early intervention techniques.
  • 5Coordinate with Rehab to integrate restorative exercises that prevent decline.
  • 6Audit wound care supplies and order replacements to avoid shortages.
  • 7Lead care plan meetings with interdisciplinary teams to align on wound goals.
  • 8Comply with state and federal regulations for skin integrity documentation.

Requirements7

  • 1Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with active license in good standing.
  • 22+ years of hospital or long-term care experience, including wound care.
  • 3Supervisory experience or completion of a state-approved training program.
  • 4Proficiency in English to communicate with residents and staff.
  • 518+ years of age and pass AHCA background screening.
  • 6Positive attitude toward the elderly population.
  • 7Preferred: 1+ years in skilled nursing or rehab settings.
