Water Sampling Technician, Sterile Processing & Water Quality
Overview
This role owns on-site water sampling at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, covering the Sterile Processing Service water system across utility, critical, steam, and RO-related points. You will collect samples per schedule and AAMI ST108 requirements. Work with a project manager, laboratory, and VA staff. The role supports emergency responses within one hour. This contract position offers hands-on work in a hospital environment.
What You'll Do8
- 1Collect water samples at all assigned SPS locations with proper technique per AAMI ST108.
- 2Follow approved sampling procedures for monthly and quarterly cycles at designated points.
- 3Prepare and package each sample, using correct containers, labels, and shipping supplies.
- 4Identify each sample by location and collection date to ensure traceability to test sites.
- 5Ship samples to the laboratory, protecting integrity and following handling procedures.
- 6Notify management or lab of any issues like damaged containers or suspected contamination.
- 7Support repeat sampling when lab results or project needs require new samples.
- 8Respond to emergency sampling within one hour and dispatch to site within 24 hours if needed.
