What You'll Do9

  • 1Drive WECC's mission by aligning engagement strategies with organizational goals, collaborating with the executive team and Board.
  • 2Build and lead a network of strategic partnerships with entities like WIRAB and the Member Advisory Committee to elevate WECC's reputation.
  • 3Oversee and mentor a hybrid team across communications, outreach, and external affairs, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  • 4Develop and execute a measurable outreach strategy that segments stakeholders and focuses resources on high-impact engagement for risk mitigation.
  • 5Leverage AI and digital tools to enhance stakeholder education and engagement on reliability and security issues.
  • 6Act as a primary spokesperson, positioning WECC executives for effective external communication and relationship building.
  • 7Translate technical analyses into clear insights for policymakers and stakeholders, ensuring WECC's findings drive action.
  • 8Coordinate engagement across operational teams to ensure consistent and unified strategic messaging.
  • 9Champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engagement department.

Requirements7

  • 115+ years in business leadership with a track record of advancement in the electric utility, non-profit, regulatory, or policy sectors.
  • 2Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public policy, or related field; MBA or master's preferred.
  • 3Proven experience engaging with state, provincial, and federal regulators and policymakers, translating discussions into strategic recommendations.
  • 4Broad understanding of external affairs, corporate communications, and senior management experience.
  • 5Industry experience within the Western Interconnection.
  • 6Strong computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 7Adherence to cybersecurity principles, including protecting sensitive information and following organizational protocols.
