VP Platform Operations, Residential Real Estate (PE-Backed)
Overview
Own the shared operating infrastructure across a rapidly growing property management platform. You will build and lead the systems, processes, and teams that drive alignment across back-office functions and field operations. Reporting to the CEO, you will translate ambiguous priorities into structured work streams that deliver measurable results. This role offers a path to COO as the company scales. You will operate at scale with 10,000+ single-family or 20,000+ multifamily units, driving efficiency and sustainable growth in a PE-backed environment.
What You'll Do10
- 1Design and build the operating model for a multi-site residential platform, consolidating teams, workflows, and systems into a scalable structure.
- 2Lead post-acquisition integration, owning org design, people decisions, and system implementations from day one.
- 3Drive alignment across accounting, HR, IT, systems, and field teams by establishing clear operating cadences and metrics.
- 4Evaluate and implement new systems, using technical fluency to drive decisions on ERP, CRM, and property management software.
- 5Document playbooks, decision logs, and standard operating procedures to ensure repeatable execution as the portfolio grows.
- 6Manage a national portfolio across multiple markets, balancing standardization with local market dynamics.
- 7Collaborate with C-suite and founders to translate high-level strategy into actionable work streams for functional leaders.
- 8Own vendor relationships and contract negotiations to optimize service delivery and cost efficiency.
- 9Build a high-performing operations team, hiring and developing leaders across back-office functions.
- 10Report on operational performance to the board and investors, using data to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements8
- 112-18+ years in operating roles, ideally in PE-backed, founder-led, or multi-site services businesses.
- 2Proven management of 10,000+ single-family or 20,000+ multifamily units, with 50,000-200,000 units preferred.
- 3Experience leading national operations across multiple geographies; regional exposure alone is not sufficient.
- 4Prior management of back-office functions, including accounting, HR, IT, or shared services.
- 5Background in post-acquisition integration, owning org design, systems, and process implementation.
- 6Track record of consolidating teams, workflows, vendors, and systems into a more scalable model.
- 7Technical fluency to personally drive system evaluation and implementation, including ERP and PM software.
- 8Strong written communication skills with the discipline to document playbooks, metrics, and operating cadences.
