You will own avian veterinary care and husbandry at Neion Bio, ensuring the health and welfare of research flocks used in biomanufacturing. You will work hands-on across the full lifecycle, from egg incubation to adult chicken care, in a facility that turns farms into medicine factories. Your day-to-day includes clinical procedures, biosecurity enforcement, and record keeping, all within a small, mission-driven team. What You'll Do8

  • 1Handle and restrain chickens safely for routine procedures, including venipuncture, sample collection, and processing.
  • 2Perform preventative and interventional veterinary care, ensuring timely treatment and documentation.
  • 3Oversee egg collection, incubation, and hatching, monitoring chick development and health.
  • 4Maintain strict biosecurity by showering into the facility and working in full PPE per SOPs.
  • 5Support daily husbandry, including feeding, watering, enrichment, and cleaning to promote animal welfare.
  • 6Keep accurate and timely animal records, tracking health, treatments, and procedures.
  • 7Ensure research areas and records meet or exceed IACUC inspection compliance standards.
  • 8Contribute to a culture of care by promoting environmental, nutritional, and social enrichment for flocks.

Requirements8

  • 14+ years hands-on animal care in research, small animal clinical, farm, or zoological settings, including direct avian experience.
  • 2Undergraduate degree in biological sciences or from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technical program, with VTNE or LVTE certification.
  • 3Prior experience incubating and hatching eggs and raising chickens.
  • 4Associate or undergraduate degree in biological sciences or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5Ability to shower into facility and work in PPE for up to 3 hours at a time.
  • 6Experience in barrier or isolation facilities is preferred.
  • 7Extreme attention to detail and strict compliance with SOPs and documentation.
  • 8Operate with quiet confidence and competence, both independently and in a team.
