Valuation Control Senior Manager - Energy Trading
Overview
You will lead the independent valuation process for energy trading products at Macquarie Group, ensuring accuracy and integrity in a global financial services firm operating in 30 markets. You will own price verification, benchmark reviews, and fair value adjustments across a diverse portfolio. Collaborate with trading, risk, finance, and model review teams to strengthen control frameworks. This Houston-based role requires 4 days per week in office, offering a chance to shape valuation methodology at scale.
What You'll Do8
- 1Own the end-to-end independent valuation process for energy products, including price verification and benchmark reviews.
- 2Develop and refine valuation methodologies for derivatives and energy instruments, embedding control frameworks.
- 3Assess valuation risks and implement fair value adjustments to reflect market conditions.
- 4Deliver monthly reporting and analysis to support trading and risk decisions, highlighting key valuation drivers.
- 5Partner with trading, risk, and model review teams to resolve valuation disputes and align on assumptions.
- 6Drive continuous improvement in valuation controls, automating manual processes with Excel and data tools.
- 7Ensure compliance with US GAAP and IFRS standards for all valuation activities.
- 8Present valuation results and methodology changes to senior management and auditors.
Requirements6
- 115+ years of valuation experience, ideally in the energy sector.
- 2Strong understanding of financial instruments, valuation techniques, and energy derivatives.
- 3Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools for complex analytical problem-solving.
- 4Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with teams in Trading, Risk, and Finance.
- 5Knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory requirements for valuations.
- 6Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
