Overview

You will own vegetation management planning for utility transmission corridors in the Raleigh area, inspecting up to 10 miles of rights-of-way daily. You will stand as the customer-facing liaison for ArborMetrics, resolving concerns and documenting work with GIS and iOS tools. The team combines field independence with storm response support, and you will receive ISA certification training. Your decisions on tree risk directly shape grid reliability and public safety.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Identify and report safety hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions to leadership, adhering to AMS safety standards for driving, wildfire prevention, and injury prevention.
  • 2Drive to work sites and hike rights-of-way up to 10 miles per day, inspecting and documenting vegetation work such as pruning and removal at customer properties.
  • 3Record vegetation data using tablets and specialized forestry software, leveraging GIS and Microsoft Suite for data entry and tracking.
  • 4Address customer concerns and complaints about vegetation work promptly, maintaining professional conduct with the public, landowners, and clients.
  • 5Communicate effectively with leadership, auditors, and contractors, ensuring alignment on vegetation management priorities and safety protocols.
  • 6Participate in storm and emergency response duties as needed, mobilizing quickly to restore service and clear hazards.
  • 7Carry out additional duties as assigned, including supporting team goals and adapting to evolving field conditions.
  • 8Promote AMS values in daily actions, fostering a culture of safety and excellence in every interaction.

Requirements9

  • 1Knowledge of tree species identification, hazard tree assessment, invasive species management, and understanding of tree growth patterns.
  • 2Ability to hike and walk rights-of-way for extended periods, navigating varied terrain and weather conditions.
  • 3Knowledge of Utility Vegetation Management practices, including pruning standards and clearance requirements.
  • 4Experience with GIS software/technology, Microsoft Suite, and iPhone for field data collection.
  • 5Ability to work alone outdoors in various weather and terrain, including low light conditions and remote locations.
  • 6Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with strong problem solving and multi-tasking abilities.
  • 7Attention to detail and adaptability to change in a dynamic field environment.
  • 8Valid driver's license and good driving record, with ability to operate a vehicle safely.
  • 9Preferred: ISA certification or equivalent; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
