Overview

You will own the daily operations of the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS), replacing outdated infrastructure across radar, software, hardware, and telecom networks for the FAA. You will conduct site surveys, draft Site Survey Reports, and coordinate with SSC and vendor teams to ensure smooth transitions. This role supports the NISC program, working alongside engineering and operations staff in a fast-moving environment. You will also develop Project Risk Plans and Operational Risk Management Plans, directly impacting national airspace safety and modernization.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Review FAA databases and draft Site Survey Reports for BNATCS installations.
  • 2Conduct on-site surveys to gather data and produce detailed reports for system upgrades.
  • 3Coordinate schedules with SSC, ES, and vendor personnel to align project timelines.
  • 4Draft Project Risk Plans and Operational Risk Management Plans for new system deployments.
  • 5Generate and update engineering drawings and sketches using AutoCAD or similar tools.
  • 6Develop transition plans and resolve schedule conflicts across districts and SSC teams.
  • 7Coordinate scheduled outages with Air Traffic and operations staff to minimize disruption.
  • 8Produce briefings and status reports for district leadership on BNATCS progress.
  • 9Review vendor Site Specific Implementation Plans and provide comments for compliance.

Requirements9

  • 14-8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's in Electronics Engineering, or 2-6 years with a Master's.
  • 22+ years troubleshooting Telco networks, performing network diagnostics and repairs.
  • 3Proficiency in MS Office Suite for documentation and reporting.
  • 4Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar drawing tools for technical sketches.
  • 5Familiarity with NEC and NFPA standards for electrical and fire safety.
  • 6Understanding of OSHA construction and electrical safety protocols.
  • 7Knowledge of NAS facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, and RCAG.
  • 8Ability to travel 75-100% of the time for site visits and surveys.
  • 9Eligibility for Public Trust Security Clearance (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident meeting residency criteria).
