Technical Integrator, DoD Submarine Systems

Own integration of Rust-based pipelines into legacy submarine sensor systems at Spear AI, modernizing C code in a DoD environment. Coordinate test times, secure access, and validate software against real requirements before they matter. You connect a small expert engineering team with the customer, navigating bureaucracy and driving timelines. What You'll Do7
- 1Navigate customer bureaucracy to secure access, approvals, and the right POCs so engineers stay focused on code.
- 2Own test coordination: schedule lab time, stand up environments, and confirm software behavior against acceptance criteria.
- 3Surface and clarify requirements by translating performance thresholds and interface specs into actionable engineering terms.
- 4Maintain a living map of stakeholder contacts and escalation paths within the customer organization.
- 5Represent Spear AI at integration events and demos with technical credibility.
- 6Identify integration risks early and propose solutions before they impact program timelines.
- 7Document outcomes and decisions in real time to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
Requirements10
- 1Experience operating in or alongside DoD program environments, such as a program office, defense lab, ship, or submarine.
- 2Technical fluency to hold informed conversations with software engineers about Rust, C, and Protocol Buffers.
- 3Strong written and verbal communication: craft emails that get responses and brief rooms effectively.
- 4Proven follow-through: track open items daily and close them without reminders.
- 5Comfortable finding the right person in an unfamiliar organization and building relationships quickly.
- 6Active Secret clearance required; TS/SCI is a strong plus.
- 7Familiarity with LM ARCI lab environments or AN/BYG-1 submarine C4ISR integration pipelines is a significant advantage.
- 8Navy background in submarine sonar, fire control, or C4ISR (STS, FT, ET ratings) is nice to have.
- 9Direct experience with NUWC Newport, NAVSEA, or PEO IWS organizations is a plus.
- 10Familiarity with modern message bus architectures (Redpanda, Kafka) in a defense context.
