Overview

Direct non-violent crisis intervention strategies for disruptive and aggressive behavior. Implement instructional plans and use positive reinforcement to assist students achieve goals. Perform tasks in general and out-of-general classroom areas to maintain regular classroom settings.

  • 1Implement instructional programs and intervention techniques to de-escalate student behavior
  • 2Observe and report potential behavioral problems in classroom and adjacent areas
  • 3Assess situations and provide information to Crisis Intervention Specialist
  • 4Use behavioral protocols to control and monitor student behavior
  • 5Employ physical therapeutic techniques when necessary
  • 6Monitor student behavior and redirect toward appropriate actions
  • 7Maintain logs of student movements and progress toward goals
  • 8Provide verbal praise after student returns to regular classroom
  • 9Document student progress and report data to specialists
  • 10Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements8

  • 1Work directly with students in individual or group settings
  • 2Maintain effective and orderly work environment
  • 3Comply with AACPS Employee Handbook standards
  • 4Demonstrate discretion and excellent customer service
  • 5Ensure regular and punctual attendance
  • 6Hold active licenses and certifications
  • 7Pass paraprofessional assessment issued by ETS or NES
  • 8Complete 30 semester hour credits after July 1 1993
