Overview

Lead the design integration and optimization of armor for tactical vehicles. Design robust structural components and integrate mission-critical sub-systems to meet strict performance and survivability standards. Utilize Siemens NX to balance size weight power and cooling budgets while collaborating with manufacturing teams. This role requires creativity initiative and independent problem solving within a fast-paced environment on government programs and special projects.

What You'll Do11

  • 1Build advanced 3D models and complex assemblies using Siemens NX for armor components and chassis modifications
  • 2Design full vehicle armor systems installation kits and blast-mitigating components
  • 3Manage SWaP-C tracking for weight distribution payload capacity and center of gravity calculations
  • 4Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly principles for welding machining and sheet metal fabrication
  • 5Perform to design standards and best practices document and maintain specifications within NX files
  • 6Support CAE studies to improve designs and analyze NX analysis results
  • 7Integrate component subsystem design into systems and support global vehicle development processes
  • 8Identify new learning areas and take advantage of training opportunities
  • 9Communicate effectively with all stakeholders and proactively resolve issues
  • 10Complete system parts to meet timing requirements with quality assurance
  • 11Identify improvement areas and update best practices with program teams

Requirements8

  • 1Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Automotive Engineering or related discipline
  • 27+ years mechanical design experience defense armored vehicles heavy commercial vehicles tactical equipment
  • 3High proficiency in Siemens NX UG NX for large assembly management parametric modeling
  • 4Strong understanding of high-strength steels military-grade aluminum composites and ballistic materials
  • 5Expert knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T specifications proficiency in Teamcenter VisMockup and data management
  • 6Excellent oral and written communication skills working knowledge of CAE and eGD&T manufacturing processes
  • 7Ability to work independently solve complex problems and lead teams to consensus
  • 8Understanding specification and release terms and systems ability to work across functional teams
