
Systems Engineer, Studio Production & Networking
Overview
You will own the reliability and performance of studio production systems and data networking infrastructure at a major entertainment studio. You will support daily media and live broadcast operations, ensuring seamless delivery across distribution channels. You will gather operational requirements, design solutions, and execute implementations to meet evolving technology needs. This role is central to maintaining high-availability production environments, with direct impact on live events and content pipelines. You will work closely with broadcast and IT teams to drive infrastructure improvements.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build and maintain production systems for live broadcast and media workflows, ensuring uptime across OSI layers
- 2Design and implement network solutions for studio infrastructure, including Cisco switches and routers
- 3Debug and resolve system and network incidents affecting live productions, with 24/7 escalation support
- 4Drive capacity planning and performance tuning for storage and compute clusters
- 5Document system architectures and operational procedures, then train junior engineers
- 6Automate routine maintenance tasks using Python and Ansible scripts
- 7Manage VMware virtualization environments and Linux servers for production workloads
- 8Coordinate with media engineering teams to integrate new technologies into existing workflows
Requirements7
- 15+ years supporting production systems in broadcast or media environments
- 2Hands-on experience with Cisco networking and TCP/IP protocols
- 3Proficiency in Linux administration and shell scripting
- 4Experience with VMware or similar virtualization platforms
- 5Knowledge of SMPTE standards and broadcast signal flow
- 6Strong troubleshooting skills across OSI layers
- 7Ability to lift and rack equipment up to 50 lbs
