Sustainability Manager, ESG & Material Compliance
Overview
You will own the company's sustainability strategy and material compliance program, driving ESG initiatives across a global Hitachi organization. You will report to the Senior Director of Global Compliance, EHS, and Sustainability and collaborate with teams in EHS, Legal, Procurement, and Engineering. This role combines regulatory expertise with strategic program building, offering a chance to shape corporate responsibility in a hybrid work environment. You will lead REACH, RoHS, TSCA, SCIP, Prop 65, and PFAS compliance, and influence sustainability reporting at scale.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and execute sustainability strategies aligned with Hitachi Group priorities, setting annual metrics and action plans.
- 2Lead the material compliance program, ensuring adherence to REACH, RoHS, TSCA, SCIP, Prop 65, and PFAS regulations.
- 3Monitor emerging regulations and reporting standards, assessing business impact and communicating risks and recommendations to stakeholders.
- 4Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls for sustainability and material compliance.
- 5Collect, validate, and analyze sustainability data to prepare ESG disclosures, customer questionnaires, and corporate reports.
- 6Support greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and carbon reduction plans, tracking sustainability performance metrics.
- 7Engage customers, suppliers, and internal teams to advance sustainability objectives and ensure compliance requirements are met.
- 8Serve as the subject matter expert on sustainability and material compliance, guiding EHS, Legal, Trade Compliance, Procurement, and Engineering teams.
- 9Collaborate with global Hitachi sustainability teams to align standards and best practices, and partner with suppliers to obtain compliance data.
- 10Develop and deliver training materials to promote sustainability awareness across the organization.
Requirements9
- 15-7 years of progressive experience in material compliance, regulatory compliance, corporate social responsibility, ESG, or environmental programs.
- 2Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3Experience building or managing compliance programs and leading sustainability initiatives in a global business environment.
- 4Strong knowledge of global regulations including GHG Accounting, REACH, RoHS, TSCA, SCIP, and Prop 65.
- 5Experience with ESG reporting frameworks and sustainability metrics.
- 6Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- 7Strong analytical and data management capabilities, with the ability to translate complex sustainability topics for technical and non-technical audiences.
- 8Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- 9Willingness to travel up to 20%, including internationally, and hold a valid driver's license.

$110 - $151k per year
