Summer Intern, Catering & Event Operations
Overview
Own the intern role at The Classic Catering People, a premier catering company in Owings Mills, Maryland, supporting high-end events for 50-500 guests. You'll work directly with the culinary and event teams, contributing to setup, food prep, and guest service. This is a hands-on, 10-week summer program that builds real-world skills in event logistics, food preparation, and guest relations. You'll get daily meals, hands-on training, and a flexible schedule.
What You'll Do6
- 1Assist event staff with setup and breakdown of events, including decor, seating, and equipment for up to 300 guests.
- 2Support kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, plating dishes, and garnishing under the guidance of the culinary team.
- 3Provide attentive service to guests during events, addressing inquiries and requests with a professional demeanor.
- 4Manage post-event cleanup and organization, ensuring all areas meet company standards.
- 5Learn event logistics by shadowing coordinators during client walk-throughs and execution.
- 6Collaborate with chefs on menu prep, using knife skills and plating techniques to execute seasonal menus.
Requirements6
- 1Currently enrolled in an accredited college program, preferably in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, or Business.
- 2Strong desire to learn catering and event operations through hands-on experience.
- 3Excellent interpersonal skills with a friendly approach, able to communicate clearly with guests and staff.
- 4Flexible schedule to work evenings and weekends as event schedules require.
- 5Proactive attitude, willing to assist with various tasks from setup to breakdown.
- 6Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation principles is a plus.
