Overview

As the Student Support Intervention and Resources Specialist, you will own statewide district-level intervention programs, shaping Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM) protocols across Minnesota's K-12 schools. You will partner with district SSCRT teams, delivering professional development and technical assistance while serving as the intervention lead on a crisis management team. This role sits at the intersection of trauma-informed practice and systemic school safety, offering a chance to influence policy for over 800 districts. You will bring your licensed mental health expertise to implement evidence-based BTAM frameworks, directly improving student outcomes statewide.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Develop district intervention programs, integrating BTAM protocols with tiered mental health supports.
  • 2Deliver professional development to district SSCRT teams on trauma-informed crisis response and de-escalation.
  • 3Assess behavioral health needs and design intervention plans for K-12 settings, using culturally responsive practices.
  • 4Lead statewide implementation of BTAM practices, providing consultation to districts lacking on-staff mental health professionals.
  • 5Create training materials and implementation guides for BTAM, ensuring fidelity across diverse school communities.
  • 6Coordinate resources for crisis response, bridging school-linked behavioral health services with Multi-Tiered System of Supports.
  • 7Evaluate BTAM program effectiveness, using data to refine protocols and training.
  • 8Collaborate with state agencies to align BTAM with violence prevention and student support initiatives.

Requirements8

  • 1Four years as a licensed mental health professional providing K-12 crisis intervention or student-support services.
  • 2Experience applying trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • 3Experience assessing behavioral or mental health concerns and implementing interventions.
  • 4Experience providing professional development to adults on behavioral threat assessments and crisis response.
  • 5Experience leading system-wide crisis intervention and de-escalation initiatives.
  • 6Experience developing, implementing, or evaluating Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management programs.
  • 7Preferred: Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or Licensed School Social Worker.
  • 8Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
