Structural Steel Project Manager - Portland, OR
Overview
Own project delivery for a Pacific Northwest steel fabrication and erection firm with 1,000+ completed projects. Coordinate schedules, budgets, and field operations to hit profitability targets on structures up to 10,000 tons. Work directly with superintendents, vendors, and customers to keep projects on time and on cost. This role suits a builder who wants end-to-end control, from Tekla models to monthly billings, at a company recognized with the 2022 AISC Safety Award.
What You'll Do7
- 1Coordinate with vendors and customers to maintain project schedule and cost, using Microsoft Project for look-ahead planning.
- 2Partner with the Purchasing Manager to issue purchase orders by providing accurate specifications and timelines.
- 3Collaborate with the job superintendent to allocate quality manpower, tools, and safety equipment for each phase.
- 4Produce and review monthly billings, Project Performance Reviews, and schedules to ensure profitability.
- 5Determine staffing requirements by generating weekly look-ahead schedules and updating resource plans.
- 6Manage Extra Work Tickets to capture project costs accurately on time cards and budgets.
- 7Maintain project records including budgets, schedules, change orders, and subcontracts in Microsoft Office.
Requirements6
- 13+ years in steel construction or a similar industry, with direct project management experience.
- 2Strong customer service and written/oral communication skills for vendor and client coordination.
- 3Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload across multiple project deadlines.
- 4Prior experience with Tekla or similar structural steel software preferred.
- 5Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Microsoft Project is a plus.
- 6Bachelor's degree or equivalent job experience required.
