Structural Designer, Tekla & S3D Power Projects
Overview
You own the structural design and 3D modeling for large industrial gas turbine power projects, translating engineering intent into constructible designs. You will work onsite in Orlando, Florida, using Tekla Structures and SmartPLANT 3D to coordinate with piping, equipment, electrical, and civil teams. Your models support module-based design and meet AISC, AWS, and IBC codes. This role stands out for its focus on large-scale power generation and global collaboration.
What You'll Do10
- 1Develop and maintain detailed 3D structural models using Tekla Structures and SmartPLANT 3D with minimal supervision.
- 2Model structural steel frames, equipment supports, platforms, ladders, stairs, and foundations for gas turbine projects.
- 3Generate structural drawings, including general arrangements, steel framing layouts, connections, and material take-offs.
- 4Coordinate with piping, equipment, electrical, and civil teams to resolve clashes and ensure constructability.
- 5Incorporate transport, lifting, and erection considerations into module-based structural designs.
- 6Participate in 30%, 60%, and 90% model reviews, driving clash detection and resolution.
- 7Ensure models comply with AISC, AWS, and IBC standards and project specifications.
- 8Maintain accurate model data and integrate engineering changes promptly.
- 9Deliver clear, constructible models and drawings that meet fabrication and construction needs.
- 10Support continuous improvement of Tekla templates and S3D workflows.
Requirements10
- 15-7 years of structural design and modeling experience in industrial or power plant projects.
- 25+ years with Tekla Structures for structural steel modeling and detailing.
- 3Working experience with SmartPLANT 3D for multidiscipline coordination.
- 4Solid knowledge of industrial steel systems, including equipment support and module framing.
- 5Understanding of constructability principles and erection sequencing for power plants.
- 6Familiarity with AISC, AWS, and IBC standards.
- 7Ability to interpret engineering calculations and vendor data into accurate models.
- 8Strong problem-solving skills for design and coordination challenges.
- 9Effective communication for multidisciplinary team collaboration.
- 10Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
