Stationary Fireman Chicago Position
Overview
Manage high and low pressure boilers and water treatment systems under supervision. Start and stop boilers while ensuring efficient fuel consumption. Monitor boiler conditions and record daily readings. Perform preventive maintenance tasks like oiling pumps and cleaning flues. Ensure general cleanliness in the boiler room. This role differs by focusing on fire suppression systems rather than HVAC.
What You'll Do9
- 1Starts and stops boilers as directed by a licensed Operating Engineer
- 2Monitors boiler operation to maintain efficient fuel consumption
- 3Records daily boiler room readings and conditions in operating logs
- 4Checks monitoring instruments to identify boiler problems
- 5Takes water samples to test pH and add chemicals as needed
- 6Inspects water levels and regulates them as necessary
- 7Cleans flues and boiler tubes to prevent residue buildup
- 8Performs preventive maintenance including oiling and lubricating pumps
- 9Assists in boiler operation and related equipment as required
Requirements5
- 1One year of experience working with boilers and related equipment including feed water pumps and chemical tanks
- 2One year of experience working as a heating ventilation and air conditioning technician
- 3Completion of a recognized training course in basic boiler or steam plant operations
- 4Substantial lifting capacity up to 80 pounds
- 5Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and quickly bend stretch twist or reach
