Sr Software Engineer - Embedded Data Center
Overview
Design and ship software for Nexus 9000/3000 Data Center product lines and drive Cisco's Data Center strategy featuring application awareness. Lead a team to define design specifications and develop software modules for Cisco/merchant ASIC platforms. Work with cross-functional experts on QoS security ACL NAT telemetry PTP load balancing service chaining ultra low latency technologies. Impact includes delivering SDKs and driving performance engineering initiatives.
What You'll Do11
- 1Define design specifications and develop software modules for Cisco/merchant ASIC Data Center Switch Platforms
- 2Build functional and design specifications for embedded systems
- 3Design and develop large portions of software independently and rapidly
- 4Debug complex systems using GDB and other debugging tools
- 5Maintain and evolve a wide range of data center products and technologies
- 6Create SDKs and implement P4 code for data center networking
- 7Collaborate with embedded system developers and switch engineers
- 8Lead architecture decisions for network infrastructure flexibility
- 9Drive performance engineering and scalability initiatives
- 10Implement telemetry and flow data collection solutions
- 11Contribute to open configuration and patching processes
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor degree in STEM discipline
- 26+ years professional experience in engineering programming with C C++ and/or Python
- 3Embedded system software development including switches routers drivers operating systems hardware programming
- 4Proficiency in Linux environments and version control systems
- 5Experience with containerization and cloud-native technologies
- 6Strong understanding of networking protocols and packet processing
- 7Experience with CI/CD pipelines for embedded systems
- 8Ability to work in hybrid onsite/remote environments
- 9Familiarity with automation frameworks and scripting languages
- 10Commitment to continuous learning and technical excellence
