Sr. Data Engineer, Insurance & AWS Snowflake
Overview
You will own the migration of a legacy Oracle PL/SQL system to AWS Snowflake, serving the Global Specialty team at The Hartford. You will lead design and development, coordinate with cross-functional IT stakeholders, and document support procedures. This hybrid role expects 3 days per week in Columbus, OH, among other locations. You bring 7+ years of ETL experience and deep SQL proficiency to shape the future of actuarial data management.
What You'll Do10
- 1Support the legacy on-premises Oracle PL/SQL application until migration to AWS Snowflake is complete.
- 2Lead the migration to Snowflake, including application design, data modeling, process flows, and source-to-target mapping.
- 3Coordinate with external teams for code development and validate results.
- 4Design the new Snowflake application for long-term maintainability and clear code base.
- 5Document support procedures and support the new Snowflake application.
- 6Coordinate activities with cross-functional IT stakeholders.
- 7Research and evaluate alternative solutions to recommend the most efficient and cost-effective approach.
- 8Translate business problems into logical solution designs and implement them.
- 9Prepare charts, tables, and diagrams for problem analysis using technical techniques.
- 10Analyze existing systems to improve operations and revise logic as needed.
Requirements10
- 17+ years of ETL/data integration experience.
- 22+ years of Oracle PL/SQL experience.
- 3Robust SQL skills for complex transformations.
- 4Bachelor's degree in MIS, Data Science, or related field, or 7+ years of IT experience.
- 5Solid data warehouse knowledge in insurance or financial services.
- 6Knowledge of data modeling and dimensional databases.
- 7Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- 8Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- 9Experience mentoring and leading other Data Engineers.
- 10Continuous learning mindset, comfortable with new languages and platforms.
Salary Insight
$117 - $176k per year
