Overview
We seek a Special Handling Specialist to lead exceptional customer service for specialty pharmacy programs and patients. The role involves responding to calls and providing outreach while acting as liaison between third party providers patients physicians manufacturers and HUBs. This position supports team troubleshooting escalated inquiries maintains current knowledge of manufacturer programs and compliance requirements. It differs from typical pharmacy roles by focusing on patient advocacy and coordination across multiple stakeholders.
What You'll Do11
- 1Electronically submit prescription insurance claims and complete benefits investigations
- 2Act as liaison between company patients physician’s office manufacturer HUBs and third-party payers
- 3Review new prescriptions ensuring insurance verification before processing orders
- 4Explain company programs and services to patients and physician’s office staff
- 5Communicate with patients regarding prescription refills deliveries and co-payments
- 6Maintain documentation of calls to and from patients
- 7Contact patients to schedule deliveries confirm addresses and notify of payments
- 8Communicate patient status to physician’s offices clinics HUBs and manufacturers
- 9Utilize operating systems and tools to manage patient therapy and refill compliance
- 10Process and follow up on payer denials consulting with insurance plans and patients
- 11Serve as resource to call center troubleshoot manufacturer program inquiries
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or GED
- 2Active Oregon Pharmacy Technician License
- 32 years pharmacy experience including 1 year specialty pharmacy
- 4Proficiency in standard workplace software
- 5Ability to work in fast-paced environment
- 6Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- 7Experience collaborating in team settings
- 8Ability to navigate computer applications
- 9Prior experience in pharmacy or healthcare settings
- 10Desired knowledge of manufacturer programs and compliance requirements
